The human race has always known deep down that they were not the only creatures inhabiting their planet. The signs were there to suggest that they were walking beside things of a more supernatural creation. It's what kept the paranoid and superstitious home on nights of the full moon, out of cemetaries after dark, and tucked into their little beds safe from what hid in the shadows. But with time, as it often does, the truth would be revealed. Within the last one hundred years, Supernaturals were no longer content to hide in the slums of the world's cities as myth. They wanted to claim their roles as citizens and be apart of the world that the mortals ruled. It took some time before the human race was willing to accept that everything that they had thought to be myth was actually the universe's dirty little secret. And out of fear, they were anything but agreeable with the Supernaturals. But there were some, more educated and more open minded mortals who would fight for the integration of Supernaturals. And after looking at the situation, it was determined that even though the Supernatural community could cause plenty of damage to mortals, there were ways of governing them. Yes, there were some extra precautions that had to be taken. But there were just as many detrimental humans that were able to harm mortals in their own ways. Every individual had to be judged just as that, individually. It has been a slow and sometimes discouraging struggle to integrate these Supernatural beings [Vampires, Were Creatures and Witches] into society. But the last fifty years have brought many out of hiding and into the light, so to speak. Politicians and law makers are still trying to decide what is legal and acceptable practice from these supernaturals. And during this time, mortals are afraid that the Supernaturals are getting away with too much. There are prejudices from both sides, as significant numbers still feel like they are better than the other.
That is where Anathema Prep comes in. It is a school that is first of its kind. Anathema Prep is a private boarding school located in Providence, Rhode Island. It provides young supernaturals a safe haven to learn what they need to know as world citizens and members of their respective communities---with classes ranging from English Lit and Comp, Alegebra and Biology to Spellcraft, Moon Phases, and Bloodlust. Appreciation of diversity and cohabitation are two central themes that Anathema would like to spread. And they happily welcome Vampires, Weres, and Witches as well as humans.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ School Rules (Only rules that are unique to Anathema Prep will be listed; otherwise assume a typical high school environment.)
1. Students are allowed off campus at night. It is their free time [as most are awake and active during this time]. The school curfew is 5am.
2. Students of the Vampire race are not to feed from live hosts unless it is in designated donor areas and under the direct supervision of Anathema Prep's Donor Attendants.
3. Any student that is found to have sired, turned, infected, or in any other way changed another student will be expelled. [OOC NOTE: That does not mean that this cannot happen. If you want to have a storyline which includes a student siring, branding another [to make them their familiar] or changing them into a Were just run it by the mods so they know what is going on. And remember that if they were to be found out then there are IC consequences.]
4. Students are to follow a strict attendance policy. If a student is found skipping class or is absent without a valid excuse or doctor's note then they will be issued a Friday detention which will take place from 3pm-7pm. After three detentions due to attendance issues, the parents or legal guardians of the student will be contacted and students will be suspended from any sports [including practices, games, tournament, etc] and club events and activities. Should attendance issues still arise, students will be expelled after the sixth offense.
5. Students shall exercise a very limited use of magic. Students shall not partake in the use of 'Black Magic', which is defined by magics with malicious intent such as curses or dealing with unknown and generally 'evil' forces. Magic is not to be used on or against other classmates. Only under the direct supervision of one of Anathema Prep's staff will the use or practice of magic on another student be permitted.
6. Students are to wear Anathema Prep's school uniform during school hours. [Details on uniforms coming soon.]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What You Need to Know as The Player
The setting is realtime although it is obviously AU. All references to modern pop culture will be relevant.
Anathema Prep is a high school for the recently turned Vampires and Weres, and Witches and Humans of the appropriate age. Turned is used here as a human who has been scratched/bitten or otherwise changed in any other way so that they are now genetically described as either a Vampire [the traditionally undead] or as a Werecreature. If you have questions, contact the mods.
The twist to Anathema Prep is that in addition to its Supernatural background, there are premade confessions for each character.
Some brief info and key points: *Humans have realized and accepted the fact that Supernaturals are real within the last 150 years. Since the 1950s, the Supernatural population has really begun to make itself known.
*Supernaturals can hold jobs and be functioning members of society. However, due to health risks they are currently prohibited from taking a job in any health related fields.
Rules
Stay active. If we haven't noticed activity in two weeks then we'll post a reminder. If you still haven't updated in another couple of days then we'll post a list of warnings. And if you're still not responding or updating then you'll be removed.
There is no character limit. But only take what you can handle. If we don't see your current roles being active, and you apply as another, we won't accept your incoming application.
Choose age appropriate PBs. No PBs are banned, but make sure they're at least a convincing high schooler.
There's going to be sex, drugs, and mature storylines. We are also slash friendly. If you can't handle it, then leave. Of course, we would like you to mention a rating if you're threading something risque.
Easy thread set-up:
You do not have to have AIM, but it is recommended. The students have all modern luxuries available to them and would probably use AIM regularly. You may also scene over AIM. We do request that your AIM, as well as IJ, screen names are in character.
Mod approval will be required for storylines that involve pregnancy [unless it's in your premade statement], turning/siring of other characters and the use of magic that would affect all or at least most members of the community. We are pretty open to all ideas but appreciate you running things like this by us. And in regards to pregnancy lines: they must be played out for 3 months. Also, PLEASE remember to be realistic with mature storylines.
Strike outs are not to be used for privated messages in journals. No one can read strike outs, okay? It's like a private thought, something they scribbled away. If you want to hex a message as private use a cut to specify that.
Please do not use your PB's name in your character's name. For example. If you are using Brad Pitt as your PB then you cannot use Brad Smith or Gary Pitt as his character's name. In addition, please do not use a name already in use by another character, unless it is the last name as they are related. This just gets confusing.
Mods reserve the right to amend the rules at any time as they see fit. And just because something isn't mentioned does not mean that it will be tolerated if it's just absurd. And if you have questions/suggestions/concerns, comment HERE. And yes, they will be screened.
