Races and Roles of Anathema Prep

Vampires
Do produce images in photos and on camera, as well posses a reflection.
Have the ability to sire at any age, although it is against the school's rules. Students caught siring another will be expelled. Siring does, however, require the proper knowledge.
Are not allergic to garlic, and some enjoy it immensely.
Are susceptible to sunlight and endure pain, scarring and possible death from overexposure to it. Their skin can only withstand up to an hour in direct contact before combustion. However, anything over a minute produces severe third degree burns.
Can still get body modifications, including piercings and tattoos.
Their reactions to Alcohol and Drugs, among other substances, are as a human’s, however, it takes much, much more for them to feel it. They have a much higher tolerance.
They can not reproduce like a human or animal would.
Vampires cannot become Weres. There is no form of hybrid.
Vampires are able to pass through the above ground levels of the building because it has been enchanted. While the windows appear to be real on the outside for cosmetic purposes, they are not real. All light inside of Anathema Prep is synthetic.
Contrary to popular belief, they do NOT have to sleep in coffins.
Do need to feed once a week. Preferably they feed 2 or 3 times a week. If they do not feed they become very sick and weak.
Vampires do have heightened strength and senses, however their senses are no where near the level a Were has it. Although they are still better than a human’s senses. Eyes are much better than a were’s in the night time, as they are more (or grow more) accustomed to seeing by the light of stars and moon.
Vampires are theoretically immortal, as they have no death by old age, however they can be killed, and can die from sun exposure.
Vampires heal faster than a human but slower than a Were.
Vampires CAN eat normal food, although, they take no nutrition from it, and finds it passes through their system much faster and far less pleasant.
Vampires tend to look closer to being human right after feeding, as the blood moves through their systems. The longer it’s been since a Vampire has fed, the less alive they look.

Weres
Have to change on the full moon. They also experience bodily pain on the days around the full moon, as their bodies prep for the change.
More experienced Weres will be able to control the change and shift at will, either on the full moon or during the month. They STILL have to change during the full moon, as that is beyond their control.
Their lifespan is increased by twenty (20) to fifty (50) years.
They regenerate from wounds pretty quickly except for those made by silver. A minor cut can heal in a matter of minutes, a broken bone in a matter of days or weeks (the more severe the break, the longer it takes).
They have an unnaturally high body, 104 is usually normal.
Silver and Weres do NOT get along. Setting anything silver against their skin leaves the imprint of whatever the object was. The longer the object is held on them, the worse the mark and pain. Inhaled, injected, swallowed -- silver is extremely deadly and 9/10 will end in fatality.
They can only be a Mammalian – ie: Cat, Wolf, etc. No Birds or Reptiles.
Form natural packs with a defined leader. Packs do not necessarily have to be of the same species although that is more common.
Can turn others by scratching/biting, exposure to blood and through unprotected sexual intercourse.
Can reproduce; [Were/Were have 100% chance of having Were child; Were/Human have a 50% chance of having a child that is a Were; Were/Witch have a 50% chance of Were, 25% chance of Witch and 25% chance of human].
Were’s cannot become Vampires and there is no form of hybrid.
Most Were-creatures, in beast form will appear just as a 'natural' form of the animal of which they are tied to. That is to say, that a Weretiger on the night of the full moon would look just like an ordinary tiger you would see on display at the zoo. However, Werewolves are a bit more evolved. They were the first strain [the start of Lycanthropy which originally only covered Werewolves but as other species were found it became a blanket term for all who were 'infected' or 'cursed' as Weres]. They are much larger, leaner creatures than a typical wolf. Their strength exceeds the natural ability of a wolf and their ferocity has increased. However, basic ideas of packs and alpha dogs have remained in the race's culture.
As were-creatures can turn into rather dangerous animals, it only makes sense that they'd act as such in their changed form. Less experienced Weres are not able to control their animalistic tendencies during the change and often cannot control themselves. For example, someone recently turned would not be able to cuddle with a human. Someone recently turned would be kept inside in a safer room for the benefit of the student and other weres since they often cannot help but attack anything and everything. After the first few months or so, the change is easier and the Were settles down and is able to control themselves better.
For those that cannot control themselves, witches can often be used to place spells that will hypnotize or stun the Were. This can help draw out the more human side of the Were and give them a chance for control.
On a night (or the few days before and after) of the full moon, Weres are allowed to miss a bit of class if they're not feeling well enough. When the moon is finally visible, Weres immediately change into whatever their form and are either kept inside the school in a supervised room or allowed to run and hunt in a back field that was sectioned off specifically for them. Spells have been cast (as well as rather large walls have been raised) to keep people out and Weres in.
If Weres go 'hunting' on a night when there isn't a full moon, a teacher must go with them. If they do not take a teacher, there are consequences.
When Weres are NOT in form, they DO have heightened senses, strength, and ability. Senses include hearing, smelling, taste, seeing, and touch. ALL of these will be heightened, but usually seeing is the least of these. Weres often are faster and stronger, which would lead to a very good reason that most of them would play some kind of sports.
Most importantly, female Were-creatures have it the toughest. Unless born into their form, being turned (bitten, scratched, or through sexual means) is intensely difficult. For that reason alone, most female Weres don't make it. The few the do, however, are incredibly strong individuals and are often revered for being able to make it through.
Were’s keep their animals traits – if they were predators then they are predators. If they were meek prey, they are prey, albeit more intelligent than their base creature. (a were-mouse would be more likely to avoid being caught by a cat, as they can think like a human.)

Witches
Do not have a certain religion.
Are assigned covens of three equal members which will remain intact and unchanged as long as all three members are Anathema Prep students. Which means, a witch will be apart of the same coven from his/her freshman year to his/her senior year. Members are only replaced if they graduate or leave the school.
Are mortals with normal lifespans.
Can be male or female.
Do keep animal familiars.
Their magic is governed by the threefold rule no matter their moral standings. It's a law of nature.
The magic allowed on school grounds is limited. The extent of legalized magic is still up for discussion and being debated on in congress currently.
Are born as witches and cannot become a witch through any ritual or turning. May be a natural born witch even if both parents are not.
May be turned but their natural abilities will wane as they change into either a Were or a Vampire.

Humans
Are aware of the existence of supernatural beings.
Are allowed to attend Anathema Prep.
May become donors or familiars.
May have Supernatural parents and still be a human [if under the right circumstances].

Human Familiars
Are companions, servants, and/or protectors of Vampires.
Are bound to Vampire by the exchange of blood from a Vampire and the potential Familiar. Vampire must mark potential Familiar on three different occasions and exchange blood with the potential Familiar. It will take three different instances for the the Vampire and the Familiar to be bonded.
Are bound only to the Vampire that branded them.
Are physically marked, much like a tattoo, by the sign of the Vampire that branded them. The mark shows up like a birthmark after the marking as been finalized.
Are tied for the remainder of their life to the Vampire that branded them. If the Vampire dies first, however, then the Familiar will die as well.
The connection between Vampire and Familiar is different in each pair. They are often telepathically connected. The Vampire has the ability to cause headache pains and nagging pains [for any reason but particularly to 'discipline' a disobeying Familiar. If bonds are just naturally strong between compatible individuals then Vampires could enter dreams of their Familiars. They would also have a heighten sense of what the other is thinking/feeling [sort of like an inability to lie]. Often times, Familiars would have to take care of things/watch over their Vampire in the daylight hours., but as it is still a high school setting, this does not necessarily take place.
It is illegal for a Vampire to brand a Human Familiar without the written documented consent of the human. If human is a minor, then conset forms must be signed by all legal guardians.
Familiars are only bound to one Vampire, however Vampires may have multiple Familiars.

Donors
Offer their blood for Vampires to feed on.
Anathema Prep has outside donors as well as student donors.
Donations take place in Anathema's Donor Clinic on the lowest floor of the building, which is actually one level below ground. It is set up similarly to a typical clinic. Both the Donor and the Vampire sign in and wait in a waiting room area until their names are called. They are escorted back where donations take place in a private room. The room is sterile and usually bare aside from a desk [at which the attendant usually sits] or perhaps a chair or two.
Are awake and alive when Vampire feeds directly from them.
The most typical place for a Vampire to feed from during donation is the arm. It's safe and easily exposed.
Are subject to small scars that are produced when the vampire feeds.
Are monitored by Anathema Prep's team of specialists and are completely safe during procedure.
A note on Sexuality and Bloodlust:
Though the frequency of need differs depending upon age, sex, and general strength of the vampire, adults must periodically feed on human blood to remain healthy and sane. It is, therefore, logical that evolution has insured the blood drinking process is a pleasurable one, both for the vampire and the human donor. Vampire saliva acts as an anticoagulant for human blood. Vampire saliva also secretes endorphins during blood drinking, which stimulate the pleasure zones of the brain, human and vampire, and can actually simulate orgasm.

Imprinting
Vampiric Imprints
After having their blood donated to a vampire, a connection between the human donor and the vampire often occurs. This is why donations happen under supervision. If supervision isn't presented, imprinting between the vampire and the human can occur.
Imprinting can be expressed as the ultimate desire to spend every moment of every day with someone. In most cases, imprinting leads to stalker tendencies on the part of a human.
If a human imprints on a vampire, the only means of breaking the imprint is through dreadfully painful means, mind probing, and long periods of isolation.
Imprinting can often lead to being turned into a familiar or death.
A note on Imprinting:
An imprint between vampire and human does not occur every time a vampire feeds. Many studies have been performed to try to determine exactly why some humans Imprint and some do not, but though there are several determining factors, such as emotional attachment, relationship between the human and the vampire pre-Change, age, sexual orientation, and frequency of blood drinking, there is no way to predict with certainty whether a human will Imprint with a vampire.

Werecreature Imprints
Completely different from vampire imprinting.
WereCreatures often imprint on those that they can feel they'd spend the rest of their lives with.
Imprinting usually happens without the WereCreature realizing.
If the affections of the imprinted are not returned to the WereCreature, the imprint CAN be be broken.
If the imprint has been broken, Weres CAN imprint again. But it might take a while as they'd be more reluctant to have their heart broken again. Werewolves are especially affected by this since wolves mate for life.

In both cases of imprinting, the imprint can occur anywhere at anytime and on anyone. Gender is not an issue.
